Home Delivered Meals

The Home Delivered Meals Program offers temporary or long term service to those 60 years and older and their spouse regardless of age, who through illness or recent hospitalization, cannot prepare nutritious meals for themselves and do not have friends, relatives or paid help to provide assistance.
Volunteer drivers deliver the meals to clients on a regular schedule between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., weekdays. A frozen meal is offered for legal holidays. In many cases, we are the sole support system that allows a senior to remain living independently in their own home.

Meals on Wheels:

Last year we served over 82,000 noontime meals (approx. 375 per day) to almost 1,400 seniors, 60 years and older, throughout Yolo County-Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, Esparto, Knights Landing and Woodland. Meals on Wheels is a world-wide concept with organizations everywhere, who provide nutritious meals to people who are homebound and/or disabled, or would otherwise be unable to maintain their dietary needs. The daily delivery consists of a meal; a nutritionally balanced meal to eat at lunch time.

In an effort both to cover costs and to maintain the elders' sense of dignity, the program asks a small fee based on the individual's ability to pay. These payments are entirely voluntary, no one is refused a meal due to their inability to pay.

Our seniors must rely upon us, and our program relies on our sponsors, donors and volunteers to help us serve the needs of our Yolo County seniors.
