Welcome to the Elderly Nutrition Program

Home Delivery / Meals on Wheels

This temporary or long term service is for seniors who are unable to prepare meals for themselves, find it difficult to grocery shop and/or have no assistance from friends, family or paid help. Meals are available for delivery in the communities of Woodland, West Sacramento, Davis, Winters, Knights Landing, and Esparto. If your health improves, and you are no longer "homebound", we ask that you attend one of our congregate sites for lunch and socialization.

In addition to serving seniors nutritional needs, the volunteers that deliver the meals provide a friendly face, social contact with the outside world and a “safety net” for the Seniors that get the daily contact.

Seniors are encouraged to contribute what they are able and willing to pay. Each meal costs $7.50 to prepare and deliver. The current suggested donation is $3.00 per meal. No one is refused service if they cannot financially contribute.

Meals On Wheels

Do you have an elderly neighbor that lives on your street? She may be starving and you wouldn’t know it. Nationally an estimated 5 million seniors are hungry or malnourished, too poor to buy food or too frail to prepare it.

Half of seniors across the nation report that they have three or more diagnosed, chronic illnesses or conditions. When low income is compounded with poor health, even more seniors have difficulty obtaining an adequate amount of food.

That is why your support can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of our seniors closer to home who face these realities.

Last year we served over 80,000 noontime meals (approx. 325 per day) to almost 1,400 seniors, 60 year and older, throughout Yolo County-Davis, West Sacramento, Winters, Esparto, Knights Landing and Woodland.


Sample Lunch Menu

Monday-  Chicken Divan, Rice, Zucchini, Whole Wheat Bread, Fruit Cocktail.

Tuesday- Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Broccoli, Spinach Salad, Garlic Bread, Banana.

Wednesday- Shrimp Louie Salad with Lettuce, Tomato, Egg and Carrot Strips, French Bread, Pineapple Juice, Cookie.

Thursday- Ham with Glaze Sauce, Sweet Potatoes, Mixed Greens, Dinner Roll, Tapioca Pudding.

Friday- Breaded Fish with Tartar Sauce, Creamed New Potatoes, Peas & Carrots, Cracked Wheat Bread, Citrus Cup.
